The Season summer comes up with many things like hot climate, summer holidays, playtime, etc. To survive this climate people often change their way of clothing and food. To hydrate the body from a hot climate people drink water, juices, etc. In that order North India as its famous drink which is loved by all “The Falsa Sherbet”. Let’s see some of the facts and the preparation of Falsa Sherbet.

The Falsa fruit is a flowering plant that grows up to 8 m tall with a fruit size of 1cm in diameter and length. The plant’s origin is in tropical southern Asia, Nepal, Thailand, and Cambodia. The fruit grows in sandy soils and loamy soils with warm temperatures. The season of the fruit is from March to November. The flowers are found between raw fruits in which we can see 3-5 flowers in every branch of the tree. The leaves of the tree are heart-shaped and with a color of dull green. A single tree of Falsa can produce around 9-11 kg of fruits. They are green in their starting stage and turn purple and dark black when mature. The ripe fruit tastes sweet and a little bit sour. The fruit is used in making pies, jams, Sherbets, chutneys, etc. 

Preparation

Falsa Sherbet

Falsa Sherbet is prepared during summer because of its hydration properties and its sweetness. To make a Falsa Sherbet the following ingredients are required.

  • Falsa fruit
  • Sugar
  • Water
  • Black salt
  • Ice cubes 

First, we need to take the fruits and put them in a bowl of water, and let them soak for 15min. Before soaking add sugar to the water inside the bowl. After soaking them add some water to the blender and add the soaked berries and add Black sal and start blending them. After finishing blending filter them and after tasting extra amount of salt or sugar can be added(optional). Add little extra water to it and top them with mint leaves and ice cubes for refreshment and chillness. The drink is ready to serve. Some street vendors in North India use a vessel with more Ice in it and blend more and more fruit pulp to serve the dehydrated customers.

Sodium

The presence of sodium in the fruit is act as an electrolyte and is useful in the performance of enzymes in the body. They play a huge role in balancing the ions in the bloodstream.

Cures Anemia

Iron plays an important role in monitoring the blood flow of the body. Lack of iron in the body leads to anemia. The iron content in falsa fruit helps increase iron content in the body.

Helpful in Joint pains

The antioxidants in the fruit are useful in the anti-inflammatory traits of our body. It is useful in the relief of joint pains, arthritis, and osteoporosis.

Controls blood sugar level

The presence of polyphenol antioxidants and a low glycemic index in the fruit can help lower the spike in blood sugar. Diabetes patients are recommended to add this to their diet.

Falsa fruit contains antioxidants and potassium content in them. The antioxidants are useful in reducing hypertension by stopping the formation of free radicals. The substitute of potassium instead of sodium helps in reducing the blood pressure level in a body.
