Introduction Anamudi Shola park

• Anamudi Shola park is a beautiful place, located along the Western Ghats within the Idukki district of the state of Kerala.
• Anamudi Shola park is a part of the Annamalai sub-cluster and has been nominated for World Heritage site status under UNESCO’s World Heritage Programme. It was declared a parkland within the year of 2003. The whole area of the park is about 7.5 km square.
• Anamudi Shola parkland consists of three shola reserve forests (Idivara Shola Reserve, Pullardi Shola Reserve and Mannavan Shola Reserve).

• The forest is roofed with geographic area tropical evergreen, Southern Hilltop Tropical Vegetation found at higher altitudes. The park has one of the biggest shola forest ecosystems in the country with unique biodiversity and climate.
• About 62 species of trees, 174 species of herbs and shrubs and 39 species of climbers are claimed to be spotted here.

• Elephant, Tiger, Panther, Indian Bison, Nilgiri tahr, Gaur, Spotted Deer, Sambar, Giant Grizzled Squirrel, Hanuman Langur, Sloth Bear and Flying Squirrels are the most popular animals found here.
• More than 200 species of moths are reported in this park area. Muthuvan tribes reside within the protected area. There are more interesting and surprising facts about this excellent park. 

Best time to go to

The best time of the year to go to the Anamudi Shola park is between October to March.

How to Reach

• By Air – Nearest airport is Coimbatore airport, about 150 Km from the Anamudi Shola park. The nearest airport is Kochi International Airport which is about 160 km from the park.  These airports are well connected by road to Anamudi Shola parkland.
• By Rail – Nearest terminal is Pollachi terminus, about 100 Km from the Anamudi Shola parkland. The nearest train depot is the Aluva railroad station which is about 150 km from the park. These railway stations are well connected by road to Anamudi Shola park.
• By Road – Anamudi Shola park is well connected to Major Cities and Places by road network. There are a variety of state and privately operated vehicles that attend Anamudi Shola park at frequent intervals.
