People say Udupi is the final resting place of Lord Krishna. There are so many mathas and temples, most of the mathas and the Srikrishna temple were set up in the 13th century by madhvacharya. Once a Kanakadasa worshiper of Lord Krishna was denied entrance into the temple. Determined Kanakadasa kept praying hard from the outside, it is believed that Lord got impressed by his devotion and Krishnas idol turned to face Kanakadasa and a small hole formed on the wall so that his devotee could get a glimpse of Lord Krishna. This spot is known as Kanakana Kindi (windows of Kanaka).

Though we have more than 10 temples in Udupi, Lord Krishna temple is famous for its historical story, which is based on the devotee’s beliefs because the story is from the 13th century but it still stands in this generation. The only reason could be the beliefs of people.
