The day is celebrated on November 14 every year. It was first created in 1991 by International Diabetes Foundation and WHO. The day was made to spread awareness about Diabetes and how this chronic disease can affect our life.

Diabetes is a disease in which the Pancreas in our body stops secreting Insulin which helps maintain blood sugar levels in our body. If this secretion doesn’t form or the usage of this chemical compound is reduced, people may get affected by Diabetes. It is a disease that can be prevented easily by changing food habits and physical exercise. But, people don’t consider this a serious issue and are so careless. By this, more than 425 million people had Diabetes. This sudden rise made WHO and IDF create World Diabetes Day to explain the seriousness of this disease. With this disease, many people have died from type 1 and type 2 diabetes, leading to cardiac disease and cancer.

So for this, many scientists tried to find a cure, and finally, Frederick Banting found Insulin with his partner Charles best. This Insulin can able to treat patients who have type 1&2 Diabetes. On Banting’s 100th birthday, IDF and WHO created World Diabetes Day.

By forming this day, people can able to know the facts about Diabetes and its risk to human health. This day can able to teach many people and patients how to defeat and prevent this deadly disease.
