Introduction

Teak is a type of tree which is grown in the region of Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Africa. Most famous wood is of teak tree which is yellowish brown in colour.

History

History of teak trees is quite interesting. In the start, it was majorly grown in Burma and it travelled to many countries during the invasion. In India, teak trees can be found in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Rajasthan, etc.

  • As we all know, teak wood is grown in southeast Asia.
  • Teak wood texture is yellowish brown in colour.
  • A Teak tree takes about 25 years to turn into a matured tree.
  • Teak is a species of hardwoods.
  • Interesting characteristics about wood is that it has natural oil as it is natural protection for insects.
  • It is mainly used for manufacturing of outdoor furniture. 
  • It is said that trees whose age is about 40 to 50 years of age provide the best wood.

  • Teak trees can only be found in some dense forest, it can be found in all areas.

Substitution for wood

Cutting of wood should be decreased. We can use bamboo sticks which is actually a grass which doesn’t need a proper cutting of the plant but it gives the same advantages as wood. Stainless steel can also be used in the substitute of wood. Many products are there in this universe which can be substituted for wood. By cutting the trees we are making our own planet not able to live in it. Government should also consider this and decrease the cutting of trees.
