Introduction
Gurudwara is a place where all the Sikh community comes together at one place. Not only Sikh community, all the people irrespective of caste or religion can enter gurudwara to worship. In the gurdwara, there are no idols to worship nor candles or bells. They have a different way of worshiping god. Everyone in gurudwara is treated equal here, no discrimination is made here. Everyone can serve Langar or contribute to langar.
About
Nada sahib gurudwara is located in Haryana, Chandigarh – Panchkula. The beauty of all gurudwara is that they provide language to everyone. It is situated upon the Shivalik hills. It was built during the battle of Bhangani in 1688. There are many festivals which are being held here in gurudwara, the most important one is jor mela. Actually, this is a very famous place for Sikh community. The battle of bhangani was fought between mughals and Sikh community. Many devotees visit the gurdwara during the full moon day of every month.
Visit
Timings for gurudwara visit is from 4:00 am to 8:00 pm. Time required for the whole visit is about 2-3 hours. Many devotees from all over India visit the gurdwara. One can also stay in rooms. One can also visit the Chandigarh international airport as it is 25 km away from gurudwara. One can also visit the Chandigarh railway station as the distance from gurudwara is about 30 km. Distance by road to the gurdwara is about 6 km. No entry is required for gurudwara.
Langhar
Langhar originated from a Persian word which means food for the poor and needy. Sikh community’s perspective is to provide langar food for everyone. Everyone can serve or contribute to langar. Every needy person is provided with food. It is of course free of cost, no amount required. All the people from young generation to old generation sits on floor, same food is served to all, no discrimination in that too.
Sikhism Beliefs
- According to sikh community, there is only one god which is being worshipped there.
- Sikh community believes a good relationship with God can only be created if they help others in every way possible.
- This community totally believes in karma, do good automatically good things will come to you.
- Sikh community believes that one should get rid of ego so that one can get closer to god.
- The people are very eager to help, for example, in the case of the Ukraine war, they had put langar in Ukraine for needy people. If there is a problem anywhere in the world they are eager to help irrespective of their caste, religion, race, etc.
10 Gurus of Sikh
- Guru Nanak: Guru Nanak is the founder of sikh and sikh beliefs. He was born on 15th April 1469 in Pakistan.
- Guru Angad: Guru Angad was born in the year 1504. He was very fond of physical and spiritual beliefs. He is the second guru of sikh.
- Guru Amar Das: Guru Amardas was born in the year 1479. He was the one who gave the idea of langar and the idea of serving the poor. He died during the year 1574.
- Guru Ram Das: Guru Ram Das was born in the year 1534. He was the main person behind the construction of the famous golden temple. He died in 1581.
- Guru Arjan: Guru Arjan was born in the year 1563. After the death of guru ram Das, he was responsible for the rest of the construction of the famous golden temple. He also recognized the concept of 4 doors in gurudwara – north, west, south, east – so that they can welcome all devotees from all directions. He died in 1606.
- Guru Hargobind: Guru Hargobind was born in the year 1595. He was the one encouraged to provide the food to the needy people. He died in 1644.
- Guru Har Rai: Guru Har Rai was born in the year 1630. He only believes in peace which is very important in one’s life. He died in the year 1661.
- Guru Har Krishnan: Guru Har Krishnan was born in the year 1656. He had helped maximum people and he was the most helpful person at that time. He died in the year 1664.
- Guru Tegh Bahadur: Guru Tegh Bahadur was born in 1621. He was forced to convert to Islam from Hindu. He died in the year 1675.
- Guru Gobind Singh: Guru Gobind Singh was born in the year 1666. He is the 10th guru of sikh. He died in the year 1708.
