Falsa tree
The Falsa fruit is a flowering plant that grows up to 8 m tall with a fruit size of 1cm in diameter and length. The plant’s origin is in tropical southern Asia, Nepal, Thailand, and Cambodia. The fruit grows in sandy soils and loamy soils with warm temperatures. The season of the fruit is from March to November. The flowers are found between raw fruits in which we can see 3-5 flowers in every branch of the tree. The leaves of the tree are heart-shaped and with a color of dull green. A single tree of Falsa can produce around 9-11 kg of fruits. They are green in their starting stage and turn purple and dark black when mature. The ripe fruit tastes sweet and a little bit sour. The fruit is used in making pies, jams, Sherbets, chutneys, etc.
Preparation
Falsa Sherbet is prepared during summer because of its hydration properties and its sweetness. To make a Falsa Sherbet the following ingredients are required.
- Falsa fruit
- Sugar
- Water
- Black salt
- Ice cubes
First, we need to take the fruits and put them in a bowl of water, and let them soak for 15min. Before soaking add sugar to the water inside the bowl. After soaking them add some water to the blender and add the soaked berries and add Black sal and start blending them. After finishing blending filter them and after tasting extra amount of salt or sugar can be added(optional). Add little extra water to it and top them with mint leaves and ice cubes for refreshment and chillness. The drink is ready to serve. Some street vendors in North India use a vessel with more Ice in it and blend more and more fruit pulp to serve the dehydrated customers.
